=====================================

Now, if getting your High School diploma isn't in the cards and you plan on studying for your GED tests on your own or with my help.

I recommend that you do the following.

- 1.Go to ged.com

- 2. Create your login (DO NOT FORGET YOUR PASSWORD!)

- 3. Create a profile on ged.com.

- 4. Click on "Study"

a1. Click on "Find Local Classes"

a2. Select "Ukiah Adult School"

a3. Click on "Share my scores with selected center".

If I see you name on that list I'll send you an e-mail as soon as possible and I can, then share more pointers with you.

b. Also, you can purchase GED Live Classes Online.

OK, now that you are in the GED world...

- 5. Take the free sample practice tests available on ged.com. To go to the main page for those free sample practice tests, click here.

These sample tests will give you an idea as to how the real test will be. You won't get a score though.

I recommend that you start with the Reasoning through Language Arts. To take that free sample test, click here.

- 6. To study follow this order:

First: Start with the Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA). Why?

a. It's the longest test.

b. You will need good reading skills and writing skills to pass the other tests. Even the math test requires some reading ability.

- 7. I suggest that you purchase Kaplan's "GED Test Prep" book (the 2019, 2020 and 2021 are pretty much the same editions) because:

a. it has pretests for each subjects.

b. it has Test Study Planning charts

c. it has focused small lessons covering every test subjects

d. it has post tests for each subject.

e. It has answers for the pretests and the post tests.

OK, now that you've studied RLA and did well on your Kaplan post-test.

- 1. Come and see me, I'll save you $6.99!

or

- 2. Stay home and spend $6.99 on the RLA's GED Official Practice Test (OPT). To take such a test click here. You will need to have a major credit card or ATM card or a prepaid credit card or a voucher to pay for that test. This test will give you:

a. A score that is directly related to the real test. So if you got a 150 (or higher) on your OPT then you can sign up for the real test and plan on getting anywhere from 145 to 160 on it (depending on you. that is). I say 150 because you need some "cushion" space since the OPT isn't the full on, real, test.

b. A way to improve your studies. It will tell you where you need to fine tune things and review stuff. That way you might be able to score higher on the real test that on the OPT.

OK, now that you took the OPT and got a score of 150 or higher, "Schedule a test" for Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA)!

Use that same study pattern for the other subjects

My recommended order of test taking is: RLA, Social Studies, Science, Math.

Remember that portions of the Math test allow for the use of Texas Instruments' TI-30XS and no other calculator. I suggest that you become familiar with that calculator before taking for the real GED math test.

If you fail a test two times, you will be allowed to take that test a third time 60 days after the second time you took that same test. To read the GED policy regarding this issue and the question of whether you'll have to pay or not to take that test again, click here.

- The highest passing score is 200.

- You must register online a: ged.com

Make sure to keep track of your password

- To sign up for a test, you will need to do so online at ged.com. I can help you if you want me to.

- You will need to pay for your test online with a major credit card, an ATM card, a prepaid card or a voucher.

- To take a GED test, you will need a valid California photo ID, or a valid and current passport and proof of California residency to take your GED test.

- If you need to cancel a test, you must do so 24 hours before the test or lose your money.

- GED tests are available in English and Spanish.

- If you fail a portion of the GED test, how many times can you take it again? Do you have to pay the same amount every time? To answer those questions, click here.

- Since 2018, testers can combine tests taken in Spanish with tests taken in English to receive their GED credential.

- You can take a GED test online for $41 but I don't recommend it, our county wide internet system is not very fast or reliable, but that's my opinion so if you want to go down this road anyhow, click here.

- Scores: 145 is passing

145 to 164: High School Equivalency

165 to 174: GED College Ready

175 to 200: GED College Ready + Credit

The total minimum score is 145 x 4 = 580
