What is Live Scan ?
Background on Live scan:
Live scan is a system for the electronic submission of fingerprints and the subsequentautomated background check and response.
Live scan technology replaces the process of recording an individual's
fingerprint patterns through wet rolling.
Digitizing the fingerprint allows electronic transfer of the image in combination with personal description information to central site computers in a matter of seconds, instead of days currently required to send fingerprint cards through the U.S. Mail. This process shortens the background check and licensing issuance process time to an average of six weeks, with computer generated card sooner, compared to a definite six month wait if doing hard copy prints.
Can I get my live scan done before i take the class?
You will receive live scan paper work, locations, and
directions at the end of your class.
We recommend and BSIS prefers you to submit your application
prior to completing your live scan.
**IMPORTANT! DO NOT SUBMIT ANYTHING UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR CLASS**

Guard Card Live Scan Form:
Used if your only applying for a security guard card
Security Guard Card and Firearms Live Scan Form:
Used if applying for Firearms only
OR
Used if applying for Both Guard and Firearms permits at the SAME time.
By doing one live scan this saves you from having to scan two times and paying twice. You will need to complete both the guard card class and the firearms class in order to submit them together.
Note: At this time the Firearms Eligibility is taking an extended amount of time to clear. Doing two Live Scans is recommended if applying for BOTH Guard Card and Firearms Permits at the same time.

Additional Information You Need to Know When Going to Obtain Your Live Scan:
Applicants must present a valid photo identification to the Live Scan Operator. Expired identification cards will not be accepted.
Rolling fees vary from location to location and cover only the operator's cost for rolling the fingerprint images.
Additional processing fees are required for the State (DOJ) and Federal (FBI) level criminal history record checks.
Pay the Live Scan operator the $32 DOJ fingerprint processing fee and the $24 FBI fingerprint processing fee, as well as the Live Scan site fee.
If you are applying for a firearm permit, you must pay the DOJ and FBI fees plus an additional $38 Firearm Eligibility Application (FEA) Processing fee at the site.
